I've been a parent for nearly 21 years.  So why am I always so surprised by my children all the time. And what really kills me is -- I was a teenager once too!  I remember, I really do.  I remember thinking my parents were like aliens.  Jeez, I still think my parents are aliens.  But I never treated them like crap.  I never abused them, god no.   As clueless as I was growing up I really don't think I was ever without a certain amount of respect and fear.

But I was a girl, and that was then.  This is now, and I'm talking about boys.

*sigh*
